Nestled in the scenic Kent Woodlands neighborhood, this project challenged Heritage Landscapes to blend a modern outdoor retreat with a decades-old landscape. During construction, the team uncovered a buried, obsolete pool that had to be excavated and removed before regrading the site for a new luxury pool and patio.
Collaborating with Integrated Design Studio, Heritage Landscapes designed a space that harmonized with the existing features, incorporating a custom-built pool with bluestone coping, a pergola, an outdoor kitchen, and a gas fireplace for cozy gatherings. Enhanced privacy was achieved with new wood fencing, creating a tranquil outdoor oasis that seamlessly integrates old and new while showcasing stunning views of Mt. Tamalpais
This two-year project at the base of Mt. Tamalpais transformed a challenging site into a luxurious outdoor sanctuary. Collaborating with Kasten Builders and Huettl Landscape Architects, Heritage Landscapes reclaimed large ornamental boulders from the property’s natural terrain, incorporating them into the design to create a seamless blend of built and natural elements.
Preserving mature trees, including White Loropetalum and Japanese maples from the property’s former arboretum, added a sense of continuity. A custom water feature, designed as a reflective Koi moat, enhances the tranquil atmosphere. From sculptural boulders to a meditation patio, the result is a serene retreat that harmonizes nature and luxury.
